Key Control

The Assistant Superintendent shall be responsible for the establishment and operation of an effective key control system for all district buildings.

The principal shall be responsible for the control of all master, sub-master, and room keys within his school plant. Accurate records shall be maintained of existing and new keys.

Keys will be issued to teachers according to their assignments. Application for duplicate keys or keys to spaces other than the teacher's regular assigned room will be made to the principal. In the event of change of room assignment, teachers will not exchange keys, but will return them to the principal for proper record-keeping and redistribution.

Each staff member shall be responsible for all keys entrusted to him/her and to those under his/her direction. Accurate records shall be maintained of existing and new keys.

All duplicate keys shall be prepared under the direct supervision of the Director of Maintenance and Operations. A charge may be made for the cost of replacing lost keys.
